Andorin Melkeirri, called Andor, is the current King of Melkeiarr. His manner is incredibly
intense; his eyes are piercing and unwavering, and his voice is quiet but carries and commands.
He is strongly reacting against the heavy-handed militarism of the past several generations of
Melkeirri, most notably his father, the previous King. His father acquired the smaller town of
Standon between Faelin and Melkeiarr and was strongly disliked by much of the populace of
Melkeiarr. The nobles even almost carried out a revolution against his father, but their plans
were discovered and quelled before they could come to fruition. Perhaps symbolically, he
now always carries the ancient sword of the Melkeirri by his side, containing the essence of
his uncle, Randolin. Andorin's father had Randolin, the older and thus rightful heir to the
throne, killed to secure his ascension to the regency.
As a result, Andorin has an uphill battle against the other houses. He is slowly winning their
support, but progress is always rocky. He has a vision of a Melkeiarr that is a cultural and
economic center rather than a mighty fortress upon the plain. He has funded several artisans
to begin working on gardens, statuary, and monuments across the realm and is cultivating a
relationship with the enlightened monks of Kai.
Andorin has, perhaps even more strongly than normal, the family fondness for canines and
has several massive, stern mastiffs absolutely loyal to him. He spends a great deal of time
with the dogs and usually attends to much of their feeding and exercise personally.

Andreall is one of the Drendan, a tree-based sentient species originally "shaped" by
the People in the time of Calera. The species as a whole was valued for its strength
and memory, and communicates and senses through a different means than People and humans.
Andreall was placed in the monastery building at the location currently known as the
Singing Falls in order to inform and guide those of a future age. Following the recent
uncovering of the monastery by Skirra and Skylar, Andreall has been answering a barrage
of questions and doing his best to aid the struggling new People.

Anjuras is an enthusiastic young man of perhaps fifteen years with an energetic and relentless
attitude. He considers himself to be a very quick learner, but has landed himself in trouble a
number of times by saying he "knew" something better than he did. He does not seem upset
when eventually corrected; in fact, he seems almost eager at the opportunity to learn.
Anjuras, the son of Misell, does not remember his father due to the man's death at the hands
of the Temple while Anjuras was still very young. Perhaps because of this, he grew up with a
healthy spite for the Temple and sought to join the To'lorian Underground, He was blocked by
his mother, who did not want his to come to the same end as his father.
After his near death at the hands of the Temple Enforcers and miraculous healing by Skirra,
he was allowed to join the Underground. He accompanied Skirra, Kark, and Sollok into the
bowels of the Temple during its storm in an attempt to nullify the priests' infernal
powers. He fell in this battle, but was not killed.
He now again lives with his Mother, Misell. He has joined the new To'lorian guard, and is being
specifically trained by one of the Aquilan Rangers. His skills have increased significantly, and he
joins the Rangers patrolling the surrounding forest.

Arion was the second in command of Wren's band of Aquilan men who hid in the forests about To'lor
and hassled Temple affairs. He is loyal, discrete, and skilled. He now leads the same men in the

One of Mjerion's band of mercenaries, Arvin spent his youth in the palace of Aquila, learning from
the same tutors that Wren would have had. He has a taste for books and scholastic learning, and is
the only of Mjerion's Aquilan men that knows the old Aquilan writing. He joined the military at the
urging of his friend, Cerelan.

Wren is a deep, contemplative individual concerned with morality and the welfare of both the
individual and society. He has struggled much trying to reconcile his strong but inobtrusive
individuality with his royal blood and theoretical role as Price, even King, to the fallen
people of Aquila. Wren feels personally hurt and quietly outraged at the insensitivity and
callousness around him, and has a difficult time accepting lack of contemplation.
Wren has spent most of his life as the head of a small band of Aquilan bowmen and woodsmen that
fled at the end of the city's destruction and have harried the affairs of the aggressor, Arelin
Klann and especially the Temple of Ka'larr. He felt presumptuous and uncertain in this role, but
proved a perceptive, charismatic, and skilled leader.
Wren brought Skirra to To'lor and there discovered an "Underground" resistance which included
several former Aquilan soldiers. Joining with them, he led a successful revolution against the
Temple of Ka'larr despite a large numeric disadvantage. In the political aftermath of the newly
independent To'lor, he found himself slowly pushed into the seat of ruler. A struggle developed
between the Aquilan and native To'lorian populations of the city; the former desired a restoration
of the monarchy with Wren at its head while the latter saw him simply as an intelligent, effective
leader and favored a new independence or even a return to the Empire of Arelin Klann. Those favoring
a return to the Empire suffered a severe blow when their unofficial head struck a deal with the King
to open the gates of the city to an invading force and surrender the popular Aquilan leader, Wren.
To'lor still stands independent, and Wren's unofficial Aquilan title of "Light" has been adopted by
the To'lorians, much to his discomfort, as a term somewhat akin to 'mayor.' Wren has
tried not to think about this, simply trying to do what is necessary to keep the city free of
Ka'larr and totalitarian rule.
An expedition through the palace at ruined Aquila changed much of Wren's attitude. Confronted by his
heredity, Wren was forced to consider and accept his role as leader and guide. Though still reluctant, he
has accepted the crown of the Aquilan monarch and the mantle of the new "Light" of To'lor; he has begun to
understand his responsibility to an infant To'lor and the stormy, changing world.

Foremost among the People of over a millennium ago, Calera was a bard, a mage, and a leader in war.
She figured heavily in the struggles of that time, and was among the shapers of the Drendan.
Somewhere along the way, she ascended to a deity-type existence. The People valued her guidance,
building structures, of which Calera's Tears is an example, to aid their communication with her.
She has since progressed along what seems to be a standard deity diminishing of communications and
direct influence. At first she could walk among her people, then speak with them through images
and statues, then in dreams. By the current day, her voice is rarely heard, and seems to be
connected with running or moonlit water. She is suspected to have had a hand in the apotheosis of
the human sun god, Kai. She is the moon goddess, associated with running water, moonlight, subtlety,
coexistence in nature, and music.
Until recently, Skirra's tribe, remnants of a once-human collection of monks dedicated to Calera,
worshipped her and all that Calera and her culture embodied under the name Skilrra. With the
opening of the new monastery-style building behind the falls, and the knowledge of Andreall, they
have moved into an awareness of their ancestry, both physical and racial. Calera is called again
by name, and her influence on Skirra's life has been shaping world events and spreading the awareness
of this leader and goddess of the ancient People. Her influence can be most directly seen in Soleney,
the young Drendan planted by Skirra and growing in To'lor.

He is one of Mjerion's Aquilan mercenaries, and a reasonably good musician. His extended feeling and
comprehension aids his fighting style, giving him an almost uncanny sense of his opponent. He is
often quiet and reserved, preferring reflection and music to fighting. During the sail north from
Faelin to To'lor, he spent time talking and playing with Colin, the Eadan family representative.
Cerelan plays the "soul pipes," the last such musician alive after the fall of Aquila. This
instrument stirs the notes of the heart and spirit, and requires great depth of understanding and
emotional energy to play. Upon the first return to the palace at ruined Aquila, Cerelan's music
allowed Skirra and Wren to enter the long sealed Vault of the King and recover ancient magics. He
is now tutoring them, training them to play the "soul pipes" they brought up from the Vault.

This younger member of the first house of Cegion has a sense of adventure and humor. He primarily
travels, keeping and eye and an ear out for political currents and trade opportunities that may
affect his family back in Cegion. He is no stranger to horse or ship, and seems to enjoy ignoring
the amenities his rank could afford him, although he is more than willing to use it when necessary.
He also seems to have a quiet enjoyment of music.
Colin returned to Cegion at about the time of the assassination of Raidek Archonem and Ragadorn's
house arrest. He visited the accused threesome and was attempting to investigate the incident
until the accusation was moved to him and his family. Following Ragadorn, Haundel, and Skirra's
investigation and exposing of the matter, he traveled in an official capacity with the initial trade
fleet to To'lor, arranged by his sister, Fiona. There, he is feeling out the political tides to
determine the future of To'lorian and Faelin interaction. To this end, and probably out of sheer
curiosity, he stowed away on the trip to Aquila, where he had a number of harrowing experiences.

Dawrinor, called Dawrin, was the last King of Melkeiarr. He was a harsh King of stone and
iron who intimidated the nobles and killed his brother, Randolin, for the throne. His legacy
lives still in the anger of the nobility. Even the southern country, Faelin, is still slightly
angry at Melkeiarr due to Dawrinor's conquest of the small town of Standon.
His son, Andorin, the current King of Melkeiarr, despises his memory and struggles against his
austere legacy.

A Southern man in the largest city of the Middle Kingdoms, El Sharr is most likely backed by his country
and studies cultural and political currents as well as magic. He is friends with Ragadorn and apparently
a powerful mage, but not an outright diplomat. He has a lack of presence that unnerves Skirra; when she
has her back to him, she cannot feel that he is there.
El Sharr is Skirra's only living connection to the South. From him she has learned that the mineral known
to her as thelesin is legendary in those lands. El Sharr wears a belt buckle with a thelesin inlay on the back,
the only such piece he knows of. He aided her and Ragadorn in determining that the walls of the inner
cemetery in Cegion were indeed fashioned of thelesin, however dilute. Through her he knows that his
legendary substance is prevalent beneath Cegion.

Emelda is the matron of the smallest noble house, the only matron in Melkeiarr. She is shrewd
and ambitious, though she only achieves these ambitions through intelligence and clean politics.
She is a skillful businesswoman and a startlingly skillful politician in a country where politics
are dominated by men. She is a charming woman, with the habit of asking the right questions and
correctly anticipating and reading events.
Her only hope for her family's continuance are her only relatives, two strong, bright, young
twin sons. She loves them very much and has attempted to manipulated affairs to gain them
influence, power, and momentum without forcing them into commitments or situations
which they would dislike. She has (with very little trouble) convinced her sons to join the
Kai and has manipulated events so that her sons will be trained more quickly than any of the
other noble houses. After the decree of Andorin, this means that they will be the first and
most senior of the new "Kai noble" officers in the army of Melkeiarr.
She has cursorily attempted to negotiate trade with Skirra's people.

Gaderon was chosen by the council to investigate the assassination of Raidek when it first seemed that
Faelin nobility might be involved. As a member of the third most prominent house and considered to be
a fair and thorough man, he was considered to be relatively impartial. Whether prompted by Skirra's
not-so-veiled hints or other sources, he was moving his investigation towards the Pouleron family when
he, too, was assassinated. His death increased the pressure, raised the stakes, and provided some degree
of confirmation to Skirra and Ragadorn's suspicions.

In life, Ganon was an almost too eager young monk of Calera. He was well respected and was
appointed to the post of Chancellor, though he has since indicated that he really desired the
more philosophical post of Master of Stars.
He was convinced by Dawrinor's courier Osayden to enable the murder of Randolin, heir to
Melkeiarr, and his retinue, bringing about the destruction of the monastery. He was reborn
in guilt-stricken, bitter unlife, unwilling to truly let go of the vestiges of his previous
life around him. In his guilt, he sees the destruction as personally aimed by Calera to punish
and mock him. As an undead, he spoke of great powers and terrible knowledge that he was now
forced to see and that he could not and would not convey to mortals.
Skirra convinced him, eventually, to let go of the monastery and oust the still present Osayden.
He disappeared as he walked into the sacred font of Calera. As he looked back, he developed
the queer pinpricks of light in his eyes that resemble stars.

This aging ranger and longtime member of the army of Melkeiarr was the effective leader of
the expedition to the mysterious, ruined monastery of Calera. With him came the ambassador
Ragadorn, the ranger Skirra, and the Kai monks Stormdeer and Cloudchaser.
On this trip, his large previous knowledge of these woods and his remembrance of the
previous King of Melkeiarr proved valuable, as well as his practical leadership and effective
skilled combat abilities. He perished in the final conflict against the undead retinue of the
murdered Randolin Melkeirri, who was killed at the monastery forty years before. In this

Haundel is Ragadorn's "boy" or manservant, and also his apprentice. Native to Cegion, he learned his
way on the streets before his service with Ragadorn, and retains the skills and connections he gained.
He does running and research for Ragadorn, along with "unofficial investigation" for Melkeiarr.
During Skirra's first stay in Cegion, the two of them broke into the great library and down into the
dungeon area of the old keep, procuring the key to a chest from Raidek's key ring in order to examine a
possibly helpful tome. The book turned out to be the Teachings of Kai, and with Kai's aid, the pair
escaped the library through the tunnels running beneath it. The timing of the incident and their early
morning return fueled their implication in the assassination of Raidek, which had happened that night.
Haundel and Skirra did a little more information-gathering and sneaking around while attempting to uncover
the killing. Haundel also called on one of his old connections to furnish Skirra with three new daggers
and a much better understanding of the possible variations on her chosen hand weapon. He has recently
been assigned the task of facing Andorin back in Melkeiarr and "changing his mind" with respect to military
aid for Faelin in the upcoming war.

In life, Herod was a mage from the Southern Kingdoms who studied ancient magics in the far northern kingdom
of Aquila. The first to study such People related magics in ages, he discovered much and filled a
sizable notebook with his ideas and observations.
At the fall of Aquila, Herod warped the energies of the nearby Forestheart to preserve his existence and act
as a guardian until the King's son, Wren, could return and claim the ancient magics. In this unlife, the
mage became dangerously paranoid and unstable; further, the Forestheart was perverted into an artifact of
death and unlife, miring the formerly beautiful forestland of Aquila in a dark marsh populated with undead.

Kai was and is a champion of self improvement, conscious understanding, and deliberate aid
of others. He was born human probably a little over a millennium ago and, like Calera of the
People so many centuries before, somehow transcended mortality becoming the "God of the Sun."
It is suspected that Calera may have had a hand in his apotheosis.
Kai was very active while human. One struggle involved a power-hungry prince building his
magics in the tunnels underneath the keep in Cegion. The high density of thelesin in this
area makes it an ideal spot for such attempts. Kai lost the struggle itself, but left two
sunstones, alloyed stone that he created to store and manipulate sunlight. The stones
eventually conquered where Kai himself had fallen.
Kai still has some direct influence on the physical, "real" world as he can appear in the
dreams of those sleeping during daylight. He has recently used this power, appearing to
Skirra (at least once on behalf of Calera) to warn, guide, and teach her. He even exercised
some more material power once, saving Skirra from the dream intrusions of her black clad
aggressor.
Skirra's last meeting with Kai was prompted by the book, the Teachings of Kai, which she and
Haundel sought in the basement of the keep-turned-library. Kai had brought the book there
himself, shortly after his ascension. He opened the bricked-off door to the catacombs for them,
and advised Skirra to recover the sunstones. She now carries a single sunstone, having had
to combine the two in order to have one working stone. Kai also works in tandem with Calera,
encouraging the growth of the youngest Drendan, Soleney, planted by Skirra in To'lor.

Llendon was named the representative of newborn Terspenell in the baby's birthing games. In

Misell, mother of the boy Anjuras, despite or perhaps due to her difficult life, has an
uncommon strength of will and character. Her husband, an ex-soldier of Aquila, died at the hands
of the Temple of Ka'larr, leaving her a widow with a still young son. She earned a living as a
seamstress of no small skill, and nurtured a quiet hatred for the Temple, maintaining her
husband's connections to the To'lorian Underground.
She, fearing Anjuras would follow her dead husband, kept her boy away from the Underground
until his "death" at the hands of an overzealous Temple Enforcer. Skirra happened to heal the
boy away from death and thus earned eternal gratitude. The boy, now "dead," needed to disappear,
and Misell finally caved in, allowing the boy to join and hide in the Underground.
Since the fall of the Temple, she and Anjuras have been happily reunited. Her clothier's shop
has been overrun with customers as the To'lorians enjoy a new freedom of expression. She has

Mjerion was a career military Aquilan, an officer in the navy at the time of Aquila's fall. He
and his ship of men escaped to the south, forming a mercenary band in the Middle Kingdoms.
Choosing carefully the contracts which suited the morality of his men, Mjerion proved to be an
able and kind leader. He was contemplating Lady Pouleron's contract when Skirra arrived in Cegion
with news of the remaining Aquilans and of the Light. He turned down the contract in preparation
to return home, and his information was helpful in the resolution of the assassination. His
reminiscing of Aquila had Skirra in tears.
Mjerion's accurate sea chart of the Aquilan sea was the guide for the first trade ships to To'lor

plan to lend their trained and ready hands to the defense of To'lor, at least until the far-off

Osayden was the courier sent by Dawrinor to kill that King's brother at the monastery of Calera.
Through threats, promises, and flattery, he convinced the newly appointed Chancellor Ganon to
agree to this.
After the cataclysmic destruction of the monastery, Osayden became a pale, scaly, fishy thing.
He continued through the years to subvert and cajole the increasingly distant undead
master of the monastery, Ganon, but his influence was finally completely overcome by Skirra.
He has been described as slimy, unctuous, power-hungry, and thoroughly unprincipled. He has recently
been exercising these traits in Cegion, quite probably to the benefit of Rathlyn and the more
powerful counterpart to the Man in Black. He used a young Lady of house Pouleron as his contact name,
gathering mercenaries away from the coming need of Cegion. He also was involved in framing house Eadan
for the assassination of Raidek. This plot was exposed by Skirra.
Osayden is currently at large in the world. He seems to have the power to vary his appearance and quite
possibly some other slight magical abilities. He also claims the power to create and control undead.

Ragadorn often has a friendly, impish smile, as if sharing some secret foolery with an onlooker.
Despite the buffoonish quality to his mannerisms and humor, all of his remarks have a wry
backdrop. This and the way he rapidly and accurately observes his surroundings will prove his
great intelligence to a keen observer.
Most of Ragadorn's time is taken by his duties as sole ambassador from Melkeiarr in Cegion,
the capitol of Faelin. He plays the political game acutely there, and is a storehouse of
current information involving the attitudes and activities of the many, various houses.
Like much of Cegion, he trades in favors, and carefully guards every advantage.
His hobby is magic. He has taken a manservant and apprentice, Haundel, at his home in Cegion.
Ragadorn is regarded by others as a powerful mage, although most seem unwilling to guess at his level
of ability. As a mage he is connected but not overly social.
Ragadorn accompanied Harontil, Skirra, Stormdeer and Cloudchaser to the fallen monastery of
Calera as a favor to King Andorin Melkeirri. On this trip, he demonstrated a wide array of
relatively minor magical skills. Nevertheless, he played a critical role, providing light,
historical knowledge, and levity on the venture and a crucial wall of fire (until he collapsed)
in the final conflict.
Skirra guested with Ragadorn on her first trip to Cegion. He aided her in her research on the People
and discussed a few of the basics of magic theory. His political and diplomatic position was threatened
by the brief implication in the murder of Raidek, and unraveling the actual events became a focus point
during her stay. After Skirra left, Timothy stayed an extra week to study with him, determined to
learn something to help Skirra in her journeys.

Randolin Melkeirri was once the older brother in line for the throne of Melkeiarr. His
brother, Dawrinor, stern and jealous, outmaneuvered him, forcing him to flee and seek
sanctuary in the monastery of Calera to the north. Unfortunately, his brother had anticipated
the direction of flight and had already sent a young, corrupt courier named Osayden to
intercept and kill him at the monastery. This courier was able to seduce the aid of the newly
appointed Chancellor Ganon through threats and promises. Randolin and his retinue of
twelve loyal soldiers were intercepted and cut down at the monastery, triggering the
cataclysmic destruction at this site forty years ago.
Oddly, instead of passing into oblivion, he found that his essence transferred into the sword
lying at his dead body's side in the sacred pool of Calera. Over many years, he learned
indirectly for Calera herself that he had been transferred into the sword and that he was now
a "lunar blade": a kind of weapon which the making of had long been lost. He now lives in
a bizarre nighttime landscape, a windswept field dominated by strange lights and a full moon.
He was told much about the lunar blades and some about coming events, but was warned not
to speak, even to his family, until the coming of "Calera's Chosen," Skirra. After a discussion
with her, he presumably has opened dialogue with his nephew, the current King Andorin Melkeirri,
and secretly advises him. He is quite proud of his nephew and is finally forgiving for Dawrinor's
murdering.

Rellas the blacksmith's immense size and mountainous physique make most assume that he is
slow-witted. He has been known to use this to advantage on occasion; he has an adept,
extremely rational tactical mind. Even to those that expect his observations, he may seem
callous (although he does understand and feel the emotional impact of his decisions) because
he may declare that some distasteful strategy is the most likely to succeed.
His tactical abilities were gained as a captain in the armies of fallen Aquila. He has since
become a blacksmith and, with the aid of Kark and Pjerion, founded and led the To'lorian
Underground resistance against the Temple. His smithy housed the headquarters for the
movement.
He was a leader and front row fighter at the overthrow of Ka'larr's Temple. Since then, he has
been acting as the head of the military, a carryover from the days of the Resistance. His concern is
for the survival and independence of the city.

This stony noblewoman is the clear head of her household. The Adventias are rising in
power, already sixth or seventh among the houses and solid in all major areas. The Lady
herself is cold in personality, but indications are that her brother is more easygoing.
She and Ragadorn do not have a very positive relationship, but are willing to deal when
necessary.
Hair: Light Brown
Eyes: Light Brown
Build: Average height, lean
Location: Melkeiarr area
This young Kai monk was present at the demonstration to the assembly of the nobles of
Melkeiarr. He showed a modicum of weapon ability and, very impressively, caused a
half full tankard to float through the air.

Skylar is a contemplative, guiding force in the tribe of newly born People along the river
banks. He has helped the People invent a history and culture, and guided them along paths of
celebration, nature, and contemplation. He is a "Chosen One" of Calera.
He is the only living member of the tribe who was also once a monk of Calera. He still
remembers much of his teachings of the world and dogma of Calera. He was once something
of a scholar; he was known among the monks for his skill at understanding, but his
time as leader of the tribe has added to those skills.
He is now heading an effort in the new monastery behind the Falls to decode the ancient
tongue of the People from the many books in the aeons old library.

One of the three surviving Kai of the old monastery in Malthiir, Solemn Owl is the loremaster of
the Kai. He is the chosen tutor for the new recruits in sheer theoretical knowledge. Given time
and the materials, he could probably personally replace a good section of the old library.

This thoughtful and expressive young man is difficult to predict. He had a keep strategic
mind; while he may not be the best at regulating movements on a large scale, he is quite
skilled at devising small but effective stratagems and gambits that turn the tide of a conflict.
He is friendly and outgoing, currently serving as the public front and recruiter for the defense
of To'lor after the deposing of Ka'larr.
He devised the idea to take Skirra, Anjuras, and Kark with him during the struggle at the
Temple to strike at the black archway he remembered from his "lucky" escape several years
back in hopes that it would neutralize Ka'larr's priests' infernal powers. It worked, and though
he fell in battle, he did survive.
Following the fall of the Temple, he worked in the more political sides of To'lor, drumming up
support and recruits for the resistance. Though a native To'lorian, he does seem to support the idea
of Wren, the deposed Aquilan prince, taking leadership. He moves among the factions, smoothing rough
currents and keeping aware of the political tides.

This somewhat introverted, respectful, and confident young man is perhaps the most
promising of the newly recruited Kai monks. His primary passion appropriately seems to be
self improvement and his loyalty to the Order has been tempered with experience and
respect.
He accompanied Skirra, Harontil, Ragadorn, and led the young Kai monk Cloudchaser to the
monastery of Calera to obtain sacred healing water in an attempt to fight the plague that
claimed his old monastery. He fell in the final struggle, but survived.
He was present at a Kai demonstration to the assembled houses of Melkeiarr, and
demonstrated a good degree of proficiency with his quarterstaff.

Terspenell was born on the night that the new monastery was opened under the literally
ominous sign of the new moon. Further, the wretched bowman Llendon, in the ceremonial

Timothy is a young and inexperienced owl from the forests of the People. He had lived along
the banks of the river in an oak tree near a ruined tower of Melkeiarr, then inhabited by a
basilisk. His father was long dead, but his grandfather, who remembered firsthand stories of
the soldiers of Melkeiarr, still lived, telling Timothy many stories.
When Skirra came by on her first journey to To'lor, she startled the grandfather who was
then petrified by the basilisk. She, with this warning, barely managed to overcome the basilisk.
The young, curious Timothy convinced her to place the amulet, made from a Drendan and allowing
owls to communicate with others, over his head and he began to speak with her.
Timothy has since companioned Skirra, acting as scout and friend. His naive comments and
curious point of view have provided many good ideas and humorous anecdotes. Recently, he
seems to be forming some bond with Skirra; them seem to have a sense for where the other is
and what the other can sense, and seem to be able to sense and even project feelings in and
to each other. Starting with the very first occurrence of this bond, they have been
increasingly able to use each others' eyes and senses.
During a visit to Skirra's tribe, Timothy showed some of his grandfather's tendencies, becoming
a favored storyteller and an active participant in the discussions and knowledge-gathering
sessions held with Andreall and Skylar. He has an excellent memory, recalling long and unpronounceable
names and specific details with amazing accuracy. Feeling somewhat less helpful than he would like to
be to his friend Skirra, he has recently begun training with Ragadorn to learn magic. Skirra's own
nascent magic seems to be able to extend their link; this may have serious implications in the future.
Timothy has also picked up a taste for fish, and enjoys fishing. He rarely turns down even dried or
cooked fish when offered.

Tranton is one of the few farmers in the region surrounding To'lor. He does steady work and
trades within the city. Before the Temple fell, he helped Wren and Skirra enter the guarded
city in exchange for an afternoon of labor. He seems to have continued to farm despite the
occasional trouble with trappers, isolated temple guard, and Klannian incursions.

This Kai monk is one of three who remain of the monks before the plague took the order.
He was a traveler who knows much of the human lands, and a few rumors of what may lie
beyond. His philosophy varies slightly from the traditional Kai teachings, as he sees himself
as something of a loner.
He is a veritable master of all forms of melee combat, with skills including swordplay, staves,
unarmed combat, and paired daggers.

The captain of Colin's flagship in the first trading foray north from Faelin, this solid man seems
a thoroughly competent seaman. He was amenable to Colin and Mjerion, and welcomed the latter's chart
and commentary. He was understanding of Skirra's eccentricities, smoothing over an incident with the
sailors concerning Timothy. He repeatedly likened her to the Kai monks of his home, specifically with
respect to Timothy and her preference for keeping a fighting trim.

The Man in Black is a dramatic soul. He values good clothing, a good entrance, and a well-timed exit.
Above these, he values power, political and magical. He is one of the lesser of the triad of mages
working throughout this continent. He has had a hand in the doings of Arelin Klann for some time, and
managed to exploit the concept of Ka'larr brought by the frightened monks of Calera into a power base
for himself. He pushed for the attack on Aquila, seeking some of the ancient People magics he could
sense there. Since being thwarted by the Southern mage-turned-lich, he began gathering the crystals
of negative energy that the lich's presence inadvertently produced and using them to fuel his magic.
He seems to work frequently with demons; indeed, he was even distributing them to ruined Aquila to gather
crystals for him, indicating a large reserve.
Skirra has been trying to put a dent in his power base, closing the open demon gate in the basement of
the Temple in To'lor and helping eradicate Ka'larr's influence in the city. She has had individual
communication with him, and been treated to two demon assassins of her own, complementing the two sent at
To'lor soon following the fall of the Temple. In recovering the Southern mage's notes from Aquila, she
has kept him from gaining in power and knowledge, including the knowledge to force open the Vault of the
King. With the death of the lich, the crystal growth rate will stop increasing, and if she and Wren can
restore the Forestheart, his source for negative energy will recede. He has recently been seen as a new
"advisor" in the court of the King at Arelin Klann.

The most powerful of the triad of mages, he is also the less willing of the two Skirra has encountered to
show an open hand. He works with demons, including the largest one Skirra has yet seen, which was residing
for a time in the catacombs beneath Cegion. He seems to be behind the war between Cegion and Rathlyn;
whether he engineered it or is merely exploiting the situation is unconfirmed. It appears that Osayden has
come to work for him since the destruction of the old monastery of Calera.

The younger and perhaps more impressionable of the two daughters of the Lady Pouleron, this young Lady
was thoroughly used by Osayden during his stay in Cegion. Posing as a mysterious and romantic foppish figure,
he charmed and pleased her into allowing him the use of her name as he gathered mercenaries away from Cegion's
coming need. She was most likely nothing more than a puppet in the game.

An energetic and enthusiastic man, he was the head of the Arelin Klann shipwrights stationed near To'lor.
After the King's guards put the shipwrights' workshop to the torch during the storming of the Temple,
he and his fellows sought a place in the city. He assisted in the naval defense during the immediate
Temple counterstroke, and has since set himself and his men to rebuilding and expanding the docks of To'lor.
With the Aquilan ship plans recently recovered from the palace, he and his fellows will soon have a new task
at hand.
